The first International Photograph Competition, on the subject of 'The Iris: Photograph a Flower', organised by our Society in the spring of 2002 was a notable success. The Competition took place with the sponsorship of the Florence Council and 33 competitors took part.
The foreign and Italian participants presented work of excellent quality and artistic standard. The Jury, presided over by our Chairman, Prof. Sergio Orsi, assisted by Arch. Morena Fammoni, Provincial Chairman AFI-FIAF and our members, Mrs. Roberta Parronchi, Mrs. Valeria Ricci and Mr. Gino Bellaccini, assigned the following classification:

1^st "IRIS of Air" by Montserrat Millan Forn (Spain)

2^nd "THE TOWERS OF POPIGLIO" by Mauro Santicioli (Italy)

3^rd "HAPPINESS" by Leila Terini (Italy)

Given the quality of the work, the Jury thought it appropriate to mention the photographs by Milvia Tucci and Tommaso Turchi.
The prize giving took place in the Council Room of Quarter 5, where the works remained on show from 23 to 27 October 2002. The exhibition had extensive coverage in the local and national press.

The second edition of the Competition is planned for the 2004.
